If you’re a designer who runs a blog, or someone who frequently reads them, the you know the importance of a well designed sidebar if your blog design contains one. Like most blogs, the sidebar is an important informational component to the page, which needs to be easy to navigate through while also delivering a number of offsite links and tasks that the user may want to take part in.
I currently use a theme through the talented ladies of Blogzilla. While I love the simplicity of my blog design, I had recently been feeling like the borders within my side bar were feeling a little bit to heavy for my liking. Whenever I visited the page, they were really jumping out too much at me for some reason. So, something closer to the sidebar in the theme, Besotted, was what I had in mind.
Although this sounds like such a minor change, I already feel it has made a big difference in the feeling of the design. It’s lighter, fresher, and feels like it has a more relaxed and seamless flow now between blog post content and the sidebar.
Personally, I liked the bolder lines but I can see where you’re coming from! It IS fresher and gives the whole site a more “airy” feel 🙂

Thanks Martina! I use to like the bolder, but I think I needed something new and my aesthetics have changed 🙂
