For about the last year or so, I have really thought seriously about wanting to design and publish my own book. It is something that I really would like to do. Not only would I have fun doing it, but I’d also learn a TON about publishing, the area I’m focusing on, connect with a whole new community of creatives, and have a published book of my very own!
I was put in touch through a friend with a great young author and illustrator from Texas, Becky Murphy. This girl is just awesome! At a fairly young age, Becky has already illustrated and published her first book called I’d Rather Be Short: 100 Reasons Why Its Great To Be Small, and is currently designing her 2nd one!
I got in contact with Becky, and was so inspired and excited after we had exchanged some info back and forth to each other. Hearing her process, steps, and motivational statements made me so excited about thinking of the possibilities that could be in store for me and my own book one day!
She has a great blog post here about her personal experience with publishing that has a lot of frequently asked questions in it as well if anyone is interested: Book Publishing 101 by Becky Murphy of Chipper Things. I found it to be an awesome tool and resource!
