We released the May Designs National Handwriting Day Collection about a month ago, but this was my first time getting to see them in person and it’s SO MUCH COLOR!!! (in a good way!) I wanted to share a little behind the scenes with you guys of each of the designs here and when/why I lettered them.
I’ll start with “La Vie Est Belle” first. I lettered this one day when I finally had a day off from my normal day job. There aren’t many days or mornings that I get to start my day with lettering and on this one, I did. I didn’t have to worry about going to work, doing client work, running errands, working out, etc. The whole day could be whatever I wanted, so I slotted it for lettering only. The saying La Vie Est Belle, as most know, means “life is beautiful” in French, and on that particular day, it really was.
I came across this Bob Ross quote, “Anything you’re willing to practice, you can do,” one day while I was on Pinterest and connected with it. I think a lot of other small businesses or one woman show brand owners can relate to this as well. There are some things that come along with developing a business and a brand that you have to do no matter if you like it or not. But if you’re willing to familiarize yourself with it, you can find a way to get it done.
I’m sure you’ll notice throughout my work or posts that every once in awhile, something will show up that is different or out of the ordinary for me. That is usually because I get bored sometimes and need to experiment with my work…so that’s where “Do something different” came from. Can’t get anymore straight forward than that, right?!
If you’ve read in my posts before, I am highly curious when it comes to creativity. Almost any method, and almost any field, my mind wonders what it’s processes and finished projects are like to partake in. So there’s no surprise why this “Blessed are the curious…” quote has always been a favorite of mine that I have connected with.
So which one is your favorite?! I still can’t decide, but “La Vie Est Belle” and “Do Something Different” are pretty far up there!
